The McGill Pain Questionnaire, also known as the McGill Pain Index is a pain rating scale developed at McGill University by Melzack and Torgerson in 1971. This is a self-assessment questionnaire that enables individuals to provide their physician a good description of the quality and severity of the pain they experience. Users first choose a word from each group that best represents their pain. Users before reviewing the list and select the three words that best groups 1-10 pain, two words 11-15 groups, single word in the group 16, then a 17-20 word groups describe. After filling out the questionnaire, users have selected seven words which best describe their pain. Users can use the some words more than one occasion.
